Operating Instructions: Charging Phases
The CTEK US 0.8 operates through a fully automatic multi-step charging and maintenance program. The LED indicators on the charger will show the current stage. Based on user experience, the process typically involves four main phases:
- Phase 1: DESULPHATION
This phase addresses sulphated batteries by applying a pulsing current and voltage to restore capacity.
- Phase 2: BULK
The primary charging phase, delivering constant current until the battery reaches approximately 80% charge and the terminal voltage reaches the set level.
- Phase 3: ABSORPTION
Completes the charge to nearly 100%. The charger switches to a constant voltage, with the current gradually decreasing.
- Phase 4: MAINTENANCE (Pulse)
The battery is continuously monitored. When the voltage drops, the charger provides a pulse to maintain the optimal charge level. The charger can remain connected indefinitely in this mode.

- Charger gets very warm:
- It is normal for the charger to become warm during operation, especially during the bulk charging phase.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the charger. If it becomes excessively hot or emits smoke/unusual odors, disconnect immediately and contact support.
